Stevie + David
Stevie and David are dear friends of ours, which is always an honor to be asked to shoot a dear friend’s wedding. If you know these two, you know they live for the outdoors. They own and operate the Appalachian Forest School, and are often found biking, hiking, climbing, you name it. An outdoor wedding was imperative for these two, despite the looming rain in the forecast the day of their wedding.
As photographers we get to be a fly on the wall for so many intimate moments throughout a wedding day. One of my favorites was watching Stevie’s dad and her have a conversation in the hall as they were making the call on whether or not to move the ceremony under the tent. Her dad just wanted her to have the wedding she always pictured: and that was outside, rain or shine. Guests brought umbrellas and huddled together to witness a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony. It was perfect.
At the end of the night, we headed home and waited for the call for when Stevie and David made their way back to their home in downtown Harrisonburg on a tandem bike. Stevie’s bottom half of her dress was colored with mud, but they were beaming.
